State RegulationsLife Settlements are regulated on a state by state basis. If state regulations apply, any financial representative(s) acting on behalf of the seller must be licensed in the state in which the policy owner resides. If the policy is owned by a trust, the necessary licensing requirements are determined by the state in which the current trustee resides or the trust is domiciled. The interactive map below provides regulatory information for all states, both unregulated and regulated. Each individual state is a separate link where information regarding state legislation can be found and licensing applications can be downloaded if required. Simply click on any state to obtain the information needed.
*Life Settlements are currently not regulated in this state. Depending on state regulations, a license may be needed in order to assist sellers or purchase policies for an insured with a terminal illness or life expectancy of less than 36 months. |
